Student Enrichments
At Durham Elementary, we believe that education goes beyond the core subjects. Our enrichment programs give students the chance to explore their creativity, discover new interests, and develop a love for learning in all forms.
Here’s a look at the enrichment experiences our students participate in:
Choir
Durham’s choir program gives students a place to find their voice—literally! Students attend weekly choir classes where they learn vocal techniques, music appreciation, and the joy of performing. In addition, our 4th graders learn how to play the recorder and our 5th graders learn how to play ukuleles. They showcase their hard work and talent at special events throughout the year.
Art
Every student attends weekly art class, where they explore a variety of media and techniques. Their creative projects are proudly displayed throughout campus.
Physical Education (PE)
Our weekly PE classes help students stay active and build healthy habits. Through games, movement, and structured activities, kids learn about teamwork, fitness, and personal goal-setting.

Library
The school library is more than just a room of books—it’s a place where students build a lifelong love of reading. During weekly visits, students learn how to check out books, navigate a library system, and discover genres and topics they’re excited about. From story time to quiet reading, library day is a favorite for many Durham Dalmations!

Spanish
As part of our IB curriculum and commitment to developing globally minded students, all students are exposed to a foreign language. They learn basic vocabulary, pronunciation, and cultural awareness. It’s a fun and important way to broaden their horizons and celebrate our diverse world.
